Licensed betting sites in South Africa

Every bookmaker below appears on the National Gambling Board’s register of licensed operators. No rankings, no offers: just who holds a licence, and where to check it.

Listed alphabetically. Licence details as shown on the National Gambling Board verified operators register (register updated 19 October 2026, checked by us on 22 October 2026). Licences can change, so check the bookmaker’s own site and the register before you sign up. Brand names belong to their owners; we are not part of any bookmaker.

What to check before you sign up

  1. The licence number on the site. A licensed bookmaker shows its board and licence number, usually in the footer. If you can’t find one, walk away.
  2. The provincial board. Search for the operator on the National Gambling Board register or the board’s own site. The names and numbers should match.
  3. 18+ only. Licensed bookmakers must turn away anyone under 18. If a site doesn’t ask, that tells you something.
  4. FICA identity checks. Expect to upload your ID and proof of address before you can withdraw. That’s the law, and a sign the site follows it.
  5. Bonus terms. Read the wagering rules, minimum odds and expiry dates in full. Most bonuses come with conditions that are easy to miss.
  6. Deposit limits. Set a daily, weekly or monthly limit in your account settings on day one, before you place a bet.

Questions people ask

Can I place a bet on this site?

No. The Ballie’s Table is an information site, not a bookmaker. We don’t take bets, hold money or open accounts.

Is online sports betting legal in South Africa?

Yes, with a bookmaker licensed by one of the provincial gambling boards. That is why we only list bookmakers that appear on the official register.

Why are the bookmakers in alphabetical order?

We don’t rank bookmakers. A licence is a pass or a fail, and every bookmaker here passed. Alphabetical order is the fairest way to show them.

Why is a bookmaker I know missing?

We only list a bookmaker when we can find its online licence on the official register. If we can’t source it, we leave it out rather than guess.

Do you earn money from these links?

Not yet. If we join affiliate programmes, we may earn a commission when someone opens an account through our links. That never decides who we list or the order. Read our disclosure.
